"OK the good news. The kit arrived and it was easy to install, it took me about 45 Mins.
Now the bad news. This kit is shockingly bad!
When installed it manifests itself as a 6 disc CD changer. No iPod Tab and no USB tab as I've seen on some of the USA YouTube videos. The "6 Discs" offer no functionality at all, the only thing you can do is play tracks in the sequence the unit finds them on the iPod starting at the A's, totally useless!!!
Not only this, but the USB port does not recognise USB physical Hard disk drives or USB card adaptors e.g USB to SD. The USB port only recognises USB type flash drives BUT ONLY plays files that are in the root directory, there is no way of changing to any other folders from the root dirtectory.
Other problems are that my old iPod Mini's do not work at all.
A Total waste of money!!! Far worse than any of the USA based stories I have read on these forums. The kit cost 160 GB Pounds about 220 USD, I fitted myself 'cos Toyota wanted an additional 200 USD to install it!!
I don't know what to do now, I've contacted my local dealer and the UK Toyota HQ, but nobody anywhere within Toyota UK organisation seems to know anything about this kit and how it SHOULD operate. I can't beleive that they can pass this "iPod & USB Inteface Kit" off as a saleable item."
