Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some help with a 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid 2.0 petrol.
The fault code is:
P0340 – Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit
The original symptom was a major loss of power. When pressing the accelerator, the engine would rev, but the car would barely move.
Since then, all three position sensors have been replaced:
At the moment, the petrol engine starts for a second and then immediately shuts off. The dashboard then shows a hybrid system warning and tells me to stop the vehicle.
When the engine briefly starts, there are no rattling, knocking, chain noises or other unusual mechanical sounds.
With the camshaft sensor unplugged and the ignition on, I can measure 12 V supply, 5 V and ground at the connector.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the 2.0 Hybrid engine?
Where would you look next:
wiring/connectors, ECU, timing chain/timing, trigger wheel, or something related to the hybrid system?
If anyone has dealt with a persistent P0340 on a Kia Optima Hybrid, I would really appreciate any advice or information about what finally fixed it.
